Music promo preliminary song
For our preliminary music promo we had to decide a song to cover a music promo of that would help us to test our skills in the conventions of a music video and what it is that is needed to make a successful music promo.
First of all we decided that each of us would search through some songs and their lyrics on the internet to try and find a suitable song. we then chose a few songs and printed off the lyrics for them to see which one we could do that would be useful in developing our skills in making a music promo. The song lyrics which we printed off were for 'All the single ladies' by Beyoncé, 'Tribute' by Tenacious D, 'Beezleboss' by Tenacious D and 'Jack Sparrow' by The Lonely Island. The majority of the group decided that we should do the song 'Jack Sparrow' by The Lonely Island and make a preliminary music promo to that. However it turned out that this song would not have been suitable due to it being a spoof making it hard to do a music promo to and it wouldn't of helped us in developing our skills in making a music promo. The original song that we chose is below:
Due to this not being suitable to the task, we then had to come up with other ideas for our preliminary music video. As a group we searched songs on YouTube until we could find a song that was suitable and which would help us to develop are skills. Finally we found the song 'Electric Feel' by MGMT and we decided that the song was suitable for us in this task.
We decided that this song is suitable for a preliminary music promo because it is a song in which you can apply your skills to in making a music promo by using a load of different shots as well as it being a song in which you are able to try out anything that you would like as it is a song that can suit nearly anything. This is good because it means that you can test your skills in using a variation of different camerawork, lighting, mise-en-scene and editing for the final product that would be your preliminary music promo.
